Are you using E-Learning?
We now have apps for everything. Apps for how many calories you are eating to how far your dog ran. I suppose it was only a matter of time before the industry took notice.
The NDT learning experience has been brought into the 21st century. In 2015 TWI started offering “blended” learning. On their PAUT (Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing) the candidates using e-learning have 60 days to cover the theory. This is followed by two weeks of practical work in the classroom.
I think this type of focus will be key in the future when learning these type of techniques. Not only will it save time for the candidate, it will mean he or she will be able to dedicate more grey matter to the practical application of their chosen method.
This year TWI have added more strings to their bow with the option of blended learning for Ultrasonic testing and ToFD (Time of Flight Diffraction). I think with the advent of VR headsets its only a matter of time before virtual NDT training will become a reality.
You may scoff, but you heard it here first!
